Katie and Marty's Engagment Session

We started out at the Chicago Theater and made our way over to Kitty O'Shea's! So many photo options along the way!

The Art Institute Gardens are a photo gem within the city. They are never as busy as Millenium Park and are gorgeous in their own right!

Katie and Marty are going to have a wicked cool wedding in June! They are going to have an Irish theme to their wedding and Marty and the groomsmen are even wearing kilts. That's one of the reasons that we went to Kitty O'Shea's only to find it closed! We still got some awesome shots around Chicago and even rainy it makes for a great background!

Maya is 2!

Pinkie goes everywhere with Maya. She was showing her around Chicago even though it was both their first times in the city ;)

Maya turned two on December 20th! I love getting to photograph her through the stages and she just seems so big now. This was her first time in Chicago and she was almost overwhelmed with all the commotion! Pinkie of course enjoyed Chicago almost as much as Maya!

Can't wait to see her in a couple of months!

While I was taking pictures of Michelle and Jason with the groomsmen, all the bridesmaids were behind me! I just couldn't pass up taking a pictures of everyone huddled under one wrap!

Michelle and Jason were married on November 22, 2009! I had an amazing time shooting Michelle and Jason's wedding! I love getting to know the couple and it makes it so much fun to be a part of their wedding. That's one of the main reasons that I love doing an engagement session. Not only do I get to know them as a couple and how they interact with each other, but they get to know me. I've been told that it's like having another friend at their wedding and that is one of the biggest compliments I can get!

"So, we got back from our honeymoon last night (had a fabulous time :)) and we checked our e-mail to see if the pictures came in because we know you are usually ahead of your deadlines and to our surprise we found the most fabulous wedding pictures in the world awaiting us.

Wyzard Family Portraits!

I had a great time with the Wyzard family at http://www.downtownelgin.com/Page.aspx?ID=118&PID=15 in Elgin. It was a great location, but quite a challenge to find an area that didn't have such bright sunlight! No one ever wants half their face in shadow, but I'm always up for a challenge and think the pictures turned out great! I'm also all about the sun flare. I think it makes for such a fun effect and really creates personality to the photograph.

Portraits at Chicago Botanical Gardens

I adore the Chicago Botanical Gardens for a portrait session. They have so many different locations that are ideal and it's always fun to explore them. The portrait session with Kiersten and her family was a lot of fun, but the little guy needed a cookie break half way through ;) I think we should all have cookie breaks half way through a session and everyone would be ten times happier!

Katie and Tim's Engagement Session

I had an amazing time with Katie and Tim at Lake Arlington! They just moved to the area from Denver and wanted to send out announcements for their wedding, which I was happy as a clam to be the one to take their photos. The weather agreed with us for about an hour since it was raining for most of the day. October was so rainy, but the colors look absolutely amazing ;)

Loralei is such a happy adorable baby. When I first met her, she looked up at me and giggled! It was so adorable and the entire session was just like that. We went to North School Park in Arlington Heights and the trees were perfect. I had so much fun with Melissa, Roman and Loralei and would love to be able to take more pictures of this fantastic family!

That was the greatest father daughter dance ever! Jen and her dad broke out into a choreographed dance and surprised everyone!

Jen and Mike got hitched on October 17th, 2009! I was so excited that it didn't rain, but it was a chilly fall day. The grounds were absolutely beautiful, but since Jen was starting to turn as blue as her shoes, we went inside and did some photos with the pool table and they are some of my favorite! Rain or shine you can always find fun places to do pictures.

I had such a blast with Jen, Mike, their friends and family at the Concord Center in Woodstock and I love so many of the images that I created a slideshow for you to watch!

Just Jack!

It was really funny when Jack kept plucking the flowers and trying to eat them! Thankfully none of them were actually eaten ;)

The pout is too great! I was told that they have been trying to capture the pout for a while, so I'm glad I was able to get a shot!

This is why I adore kids. Jack had so many faces and attitudes that he was a lot of fun to shoot and deserved his own post. I love to capture their moods and sometime they aren't always happy, but the combinations make for a lot of fun. Sherry decided that the pout pictures encompassed his attitude that day.

Sherry's Family Portraits

Sherry and Ernie had the house all decked out for Halloween!

I had so much fun with Sherry and her family! I met Sherry and Ernie a year ago at Amy and John's wedding. I was placed at their table for dinner and it was a blast to talk to everyone and get to know them. Sherry mentioned to Amy about wanting a portrait session with me and Amy got everyone they work with to get a gift certificate for her!

They are such a fun family and Sherry's first grandson is a year old! He was a bit crabby, but I love all the different facial expressions! I have a whole lot more of him and will post more next Sunday, so stay tuned!

This is the first of the Sunday updates! Woot! And I'm so excited to get to show everyone Ariana and Aaron's wedding! They were such a fun couple and their wedding truly suited them. It was at the magnificent Baha'i House of Worship. Their ceremony was unique and if you don't know much about the Baha'i religion I definitely recommend you read up on it! I have always been interested in all different types of religion and their traditions.

Some venues are absolutely amazing for receptions and Artifactual Artifacts/Atrium was unique. There were so many nooks and crannies to explore and take Ariana and Aaron around!

Rosemary and David are married!!!

Rosemary's cousin was making the greatest face ever!

Rosemary, David and their bridal party surprised all their guests with a choreographed dance! It was a blast to shoot!

They also did a dollar dance and had everyone pin money on them! David had toilet paper pinned to him too, someone was cheap ;)

Their wedding was great and I love anywhere near water. It was also a lot of fun to go out after dark and take some more pictures of just Rosemary and David!

Rick and Dahlia had an amazing wedding at the Lincolnshire Marriott. It was a beautiful our door ceremony and their flowers were amazing. They were surrounded by flowers hanging down from the tree for the ceremony! It made for such a romantic fairy tale wedding.

Noah came early! Liz and Josh were moving to their new home when Noah decided to make his entrance! He is an adorable newborn and I was super excited to be his first professional photographer.

I love their little hands and feet. They are just too cute and Noah kept curling his left foot for all the pictures! I loved it.

This is my second indian wedding and I love the colors. Monica's dress had the most amazing beading on it. I love wedding dresses; they are all so unique and it is amazing how they fit each bride's personality.

Jay's brother painted the pictures for Jay and Monica. It is such an amazing gift that they can treasure always in their home.

We went to Independence Grove for Michelle and Jason's engagement session! I loved it in the fall, but it is so lush and green in the summer.

They brought their favorite team's hat because it is significant to their relationship and how they met! I love the story and would never be able to do it justice, so if you ever met them totally ask! It is fun to hear stories about how people met and I don't think anyone else can do the story justice, but the couple themselves. It's almost the way they tell the story rather than the story itself!

I'm looking forward to their wedding in November!

Dan and Jenny had their wedding in Peoria! I knew Dan in high school and it is a lot of fun to have been part of their wedding. I'm so happy that they found each other because they fit perfectly!

I LOVE this picture. Maya looks so delicate just holding her hand by her face.

Talk about a kid that is going to be a future fish! She just loves the water and got the biggest smile on her face when she got to play in it.

Maya is now a year and a half and can walk! It's so amazing to see how fast they grow up. I did a session with Maya, Jen and Norm back in the fall and I can't believe how much she has changed. She was playing with my phone that is touch screen and could navigate it better than I can ;)

I'm looking forward to my next session with them!

Josh and Leslie are married!

It was too windy and the parents were having problems lighting the candle! Haha. You can see Josh and Leslie in the background laughing!

They rented this fabulous car for their wedding! Isn't it just amazing. The driver totally looked like Jeeves too ;)

I told Leslie to kiss Josh and it was too funny when he gave me the thumbs up for it! As you can see Leslie though it was hysterical too.

This is one of my favorites. I love the light and everything. It looks like a fantastic moment!

It's been such a rainy season so far and on Josh and Leslie's wedding day it was supposed to pour! As you can see it was perfect. I was so happy because look at all the great pictures we were able to take around Chateau Bu-Sche'! They were such a fun crowd and the pictures turned out great!

Brittany is graduating from High School! Congrats Brittany!

We went to Lake Katherine for the session and it was a great day for it too! Yet again a shoot in May and if you haven't noticed I LOVE May ;)

I love doing portrait sessions. Whether it is seniors, children, family or engagement. You are able to just relax and have a good time. I always get to know the person/couple/family as the session progresses and to capture their personalities is so much fun. I hope everything has as much fun as I do! I'm looking forward to my engagement session with Michelle and Jason soon!

I LOVE DOORWAYS! How cool does a silhouetted wedding dress look in an amazing doorway?

Cris and Michelle got married on May 24, 2009. It was an absolutely gorgeous day. Not too hot and not too cold. I love May and it might be because I'm partial having been born on May day ;)

They got married at the Herrington Inn in Geneva. It is beautiful and I adore vines which you can find all over the Inn. I think all photographers are attracted to anything that is overgrown and starting to decay which is why old barns are always great subjects!

Michele and Perry got married! Woot!

I adore being able to be there before the ceremony and see the emotions before the 'I do". It is such a nervous exciting time.

The weather didn't fully agree with us and we didn't get to go to brookfield and take pictures, but the hotel pictures are really fun. I love the circle painting! Anywhere can become art! I can't wait to get to play with other venues!

Talk about singing in the rain! We went to Navy Pier and had a great time. The indoor gardens are gorgeous and make for a good background while it's raining. I love the rain though and Josh and Leslie were up for anything, so outside we went ;) By the time we were through I looked like a mad scientist, but they looked great and that's all that matters! I'm excited for their wedding and it's coming up soon!

Sorry for the lack of blog updates, but as soon as I can figure out how to put my brand spankin new logo on my pictures I will update asap and I'm pretty sure I figured out how to post larger images! That is if I remember the HTML code which is extremely confused to me. Haha.

As for what I've been up to, things have been going great and been extremely busy now that the weather is gorgeous. Already have several weddings under my belt for the 2009 wedding season and I am excited for my others. I'm pretty tired from my wedding yesterday and am going to go relax for the rest of Mother's Day. Hope it's a great one for everyone and Happy Mother's Day to all those moms out there!

Second Shooting with Laura!

It seems like these are really hard to fold because most people have problems with them!

I shot with the fabulous Laura Meyer on Friday. I got to hang with the boys before hand and all of them were from Ireland! Woot! They were a lot of fun and I learned what a cement mixer is and NEVER to order one.

Cris and Michelle's wedding is coming up soon in May and thankfully we got in the engagement session in right before the SNOW! It was pretty cold out and by the end the jackets stayed on, but the still look pretty adorable! The wind was brutal, but in the woods wasn't so bad. Busse woods is a great location to shoot at too!

This guy was sunning himself. Sea lions make the weirdest noise. It isn't pretty. They got in a bit of a feud, but eventually made up.

I went to Bloomington Normal this weekend to visit a friend in Grad School and who wouldn't want to go to the zoo. Another great engagement session location. They have some cool colors going on.

So I'm not sure where I stand on the anatomically correct lions in from of the Art Institute. It would be super weird if they weren't, but yet it is super weird that they are. What is your opinion?

Grandma Chicago Project

I went with my mom and grandma to Chicago and we went to her old neighborhood. It was just an amazing experience since my grandma doesn't usually tell that many stories, which is totally opposite of the stereotypes. The shot through the fence was at her old elementary school where they let us walk around. A lot has changed and I kept thinking everything looked so old, but I guess it was just old to me. Haha. It was hysterical to walk through that hallways and have all the kids staring at us as we passed. New blood is how I see it. We are planning a trip up to Minocqua, so I can continue what I am calling "The Grandma Project".

First Wedding of the Season!

They were such a fun group and we went to a Irish bar where they did a couple of celebratory shots after the ceremony! The girls even got up on the bar :)

I second shot for the amazing Laura Meyer. We made the trek over to Starved Rock which is a great location for a wedding. Unfortunately it was raining most of the day, but that didn't matter in the least with this group and the wedding was a lot of fun! I do realize I need to get my endurance back up since it was a twelve hour wedding and four hour drive! Made for a long day, but well worth it!

Grandma Project

I have been recruited by my grandma to pictures of Chicago and Minocqua, WI. After she saw the pictures from Madison she also wanted a couple of those printed! I loved having projects in school and am glad to be back to doing some more artistic images for her! Being creative helps me think outside the box when doing weddings and portraits! The more you shoot the better off you are!

Madison Visit!

This is the view from inside the Museum of Contemporary Art. It is a glass building and within itself is a work of art. You can't even imagine how many pictures I took in there!

Madison has amazing art and I love how it just becomes part of the city!

This was my first trip out to Madison and it is a great city. My cousin lives there and we went down State Street which is where these images are from. They are actually the pictures that she chose to have printed that were her favorite from my trip! Part of the trip was miserable and cold and I wasn't able to go out and photograph anything. My last day there is was bitter cold, but the sun was out and I was happy.

I just got in another option for portraits. It is an amazing book that lays flat with a hard cover. It is a great option for anyone that wants to be able to have their personal portraits to go and show off how great they look!

It has been years since I have played pool. We were planning on going bowling and all the lanes were full, so we altered our plans and pool it was. I adore the lighting in the pool area and think it would make for an absolutely adorable engagement session. Anyone up for it?

I love photographing kids because I always wonder what they are thinking. Maya has such a pensive look on her face that I just want her to be able to speak what is on her mind. Her gorgeous eyes just bring you right in.

I always find it fun to see just how different kids personalities are at such a young age. I am not a mother yet, but I'm sure it will be a lot of fun to find out!

With all the snow, my brother and sister in law decided to take Brook out to play! I love the snow suit and also the cutie in the snow suit! She got freaked out at first in the sled when they first tried to let Remmy (the dog) pull her. She had no problem letting mommy pull her and as you see eventually let Remmy pull.

I used to love snow when I was a kid and now I'm not such a fan until I see the excitement that a child feels.

Brook 13 months!

After opening presents on Christmas Eve I set up my backdrop and did a little photo session. Brook's little dress is so adorable and I love her smile. She liked my camera because of her reflection! She tried several times to touch my camera and I just kept taking pictures because I love the outline of her tiny hand. She did get bored with all her toys and me and went to play with her boots ;)

It is a new hotel on South Michigan Ave. If you can't tell I absolutely love their rainbow carpet. Their rooms are so much fun and give off a funky hip feel. If you like color this is definitely a hotel to check out!

We had so much fun. I love getting to know a couple during an engagement session. I think it makes everyone more comfortable at the wedding. Well at least I feel less like a paparazzi :)

Their wedding is coming up at the end of March, so we were able to squeeze in the engagement session at the end of January during one of the rare warm days! It was the perfect Saturday for it too!

My mom and I made the long drive to Iowa and saw my brother, Ab and Brook. Brook is so cute. She is starting to get out of it, but when Ab read a book to her about animals she roared when she saw a picture of a lion. It was hysterical and it is too bad she isn't doing it as much, but I'm glad I got to hear it. The next time I get to see my beautiful niece is after Thanksgiving for her 1st birthday party. Can't wait!

Kathie and Dave made an adorable couple. This was both of their second marriages and I'm glad they found each other. It was a nice small ceremony at Hoosier Grove Barn in Streamwood. He works in the train industry which would explain the toy train picture. Kathie thought it would be great and I love how they turned out! It was a great night.

These are a couple of pictures from my visit to Milwaukee. I absolutely adore the light posts. I went with a couple of friends and we tried to get to the beach, but ended up at the part of the beach with pond scum everywhere, but they did have some lovely thistles. We all had a blast and were able to spend some time with our friend who has been out of the country for two years. I hope I get to explore Milwaukee more in depth some other time.

We went to the Flea Market looking for some good deals. I didn't realize that prices were so high there. It was still fun and I like to be able to see all the different people and how they react to the massive amounts of stuff!

We went to the botanical gardens at night and it was beautiful. I forgot how much fun it is just to walk around. I can't help myself when I go there and take too many pictures!

The main event of the Cadillac Experience was the golfing pro. He was great and very personable. Without knowing anything about golfing, I was able to pick up a couple of tips.

At the end of June, I second shot for Laura Meyer (Laura Meyer Photography) at Cog Hill Golf and Country Club. It was a beautiful day and perfect for the dedicated golfers. The event was sponsored by Cadillac. Everyone that attended was able to test drive a Cadillac. It was a blast!

Emily needed pictures of herself with books for school since she is an english teacher. We tried going with a fantasy book with the wings and they were a blast to shoot. Some kids were watching and shocking as it is, they were laughing at us. I love how in photography you can get away with a lot by being an artist.
